Buenos Aires with friends
If you’ve come to the city with friends, here are five things not to miss.
True friends are there for you always, in the good times and the bad. Travelling with friends generates stories, anecdotes and unforgettable experiences. If you´ve come to Porteño shores with friends, then these are sure to be good times indeed. Here are five suggestions for things to do in the city with your friends to take home the best stories.

A neighbourhood in which to make even more friends

If you can choose just one neighbourhood to explore with friends, make it Palermo. The city’s largest neighbourhood has options for every taste. If art’s your thing, there’s the MALBA with one of the world’s best collections of Latin American art, and if any of your friends are interested in shopping, Palermo has everything from large malls to independent design boutiques. The neighbourhood is also home to one of the city’s largest green spaces, Parque Tres de Febrero, the perfect place for a picnic or for exploring by bike or on foot. There’s also a thriving street art scene in the lanes of the area known as Palermo Soho. Whatever you do in this neighbourhood, it will almost inevitably end with a birra with new friends in one of the bars around Plaza Cortázar.

Buenos Aires with views of the river

The city’s northern riverside, Costanera Norte brings together sun, the river, green spaces, and perhaps the best sausage sandwiches (choripanes) in the Buenos Aires. If you’re in the city with friends, make sure you go for the experience of ordering a “chori”, a bondiola (pork) or lomito (beef) from one of the typical food carts on the riverside. Some offer only the sandwiches alone, while others also do fries, special sauces and other options. On top of the food, this area is home to many of the city’s biggest clubs for electronic music, which open way into the early hours, Parque Deportivo Costanera Norte is the place to practise extreme sports such as skateboarding, longboard, inline slalom, BMX biking and more, and there are always shows and other activities going on in the area.

An absolute must: Caminito

In the heart of La Boca, one of Buenos Aires’ most emblematic neighbourhoods, is Caminito, an open-air museum and one of the city’s most colourful sites. Witness tango dancing and discover artists’ studios in old tenement dwellings, as well as an arts fair, souvenir shops, bars where you can enjoy an al fresco beer, and parrillas offering juicy steaks. All this and much more in barely one block. The Caminito is also close to other big attractions like Boca Juniors’ Bombonera stadium and museum, and for art fans, the Museo Quinquela Martín, Fundación Proa and, just a short walk away, the Usina del Arte, which stages concerts and other shows as well as exhibitions.
Art in the streets

All grand metropolises come with artistic expression in the streets and Buenos Aires is no exception. The city’s walls are a canvas for one of the most active street art scenes in Latin America. You can find murals all over the city, but good places to start are the neighbourhoods of San Telmo, La Boca, Barracas and Palermo.

Porteño nightlife

Many cities claim to be “the city that never sleeps”, but few can compete with the nightlife in Buenos Aires. Here we eat late, dance late, and sleep even later. In the Argentine capital, night is like a new day and the city lights up with thousands of restaurants and bars. From tango dancing at milongas to nightclubs that play all kinds of music until beyond dawn passing via outstanding cocktails at speakeasy-style bars and at rooftop terrace bars where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city.
