Buenos Aires as a couple
If you’ve come to the city with your partner, here are some places not to miss.
Travelling is a beautiful experience, and even more so if it’s with someone special. Buenos Aires offers infinite options to enjoy as a couple, but there are some experiences that you can’t miss. Here are five options to enjoy in the city as a couple.

A neighbourhood to fall in love with

Recoleta is one of the city’s most elegant, and romantic, neighbourhoods. Visitors can enjoy its splendour at any time, and it's worth spending a whole here. Stop for a coffee at the classic café La Biela, then, if you're into art, start exploring the exhibitions at the plethora of museums and cultural centres in the area, including the  National Museum of Fine Arts, the Palais de Glace, the Museum of Architecture and Design, and the young and happening Recoleta Cultural Centre. If you prefer shopping, there are many upmarket stores on Avenida Alvear and a big craft fair on Plaza Intendente Alvear, often referred to as Plaza Francia. To enjoy the open air, explore Recoleta Cemetery or simply sit down in any of the parks and squares in the area - with a thermos flask to drink mate  for the full Argentine experience. You'll often find street artists or musicians performing. At night, there are many bars and restaurants offering a wide range of food.

Roses are red, and many other colours too

The Rosedal, or rose garden, in Palermo is one of the city's prettiest green spaces. More than a century old, it has a collection of 18,000 roses surrounded by a boating lake and acres of parkland. Row under the picturesque bridge over the water, recall the lines of famous poets as you admire the 26 busts in the Poet’s Garden, and appreciate the magic of the Andalusian patio. For yet another photogenic green space, the nearby Japanese Garden has a tea house and restaurant as well as the garden with its lake and traditional Japanese design and flora,

Another must: Puente de la Mujer

In the centre of Puerto Madero is a bridge that has become an icon of Buenos Aires. It’s called Puente de la Mujer, the women’s bridge. This revolving bridge is the work of the architect Santiago Calatrava and was inspired by the shape of a couple dancing tango – you can’t get more romantic than that! The mast represents the man, and the curved bridge represents the woman. Crossing the bridge will allow you to enjoy a great view at any time, but as the sun goes down it’s particularly beautiful as the lights come on and reflect off the water. The surrounding area includes sites well worth visiting, including the Fortabat Art Collection and the Faena Arts Center; as well as many luxury hotels, cinemas and restaurants serving a wide range of international cuisine.

Dance the world’s most romantic dance

One of the joys of travelling as a couple is going out together to see the destination by night. Buenos Aires is famous for its nightlife and has a wonderful atmosphere giving birth to a new day as the sun goes down and the lights come on. Of course, one of the most magical things to experience in Buenos Aires once the sun goes down is the city’s rather special dance – the tango. Still danced night in, night out at traditional social dances called milongas, tango is often considered the most romantic (and so fittingly also the most complicated) couples dance in the world. You can even take a class and learn just how it is that couples connect on the dancefloor in the perfect embrace.

Cocktails

The coctail scene in Buenos Aires is another exciting part of nightlife in the city. The city has romantically lit speakeasy-style bars where you can enjoy creative cocktails from expert bartenders. Enjoy the magic of bars like Victoria Brown Bar, Nicky Harrison or Florería Atlántico.
