Bar La Academia

An academy that never closes its doors.

La Academia, so named because it was a meeting place for intellectuals and students from nearby university faculties in the 1930s, is a Porteño institution, open 24 hours a day.

The bar has recovered its classic style, having previously experimented with a more modern look in the 1980s, and has reinstalled period details like chandeliers. At the back, there are 12 pool tables and 12 billiard tables, as well as an area for playing cards and dominoes.

The bar serves traditional dishes like lentil stew in winter, as well as hamburgers and fried chicken wings. It’s also recommended for cocktails such as its homemade “Baileys”.
