Basic info

Make a rough plan of what you want to do using our free mobile apps and making use of our digital tools. There you'll find info on everything from the best attractions to guided tours and transport.

The city offers a huge range of options to help you get around, from public transport to a huge fleet of black and yellow taxis that cruise the main avenues 24 hours a day and can be hailed directly from the sidewalk, or by phoning ahead to a radio taxi company for a small extra fee.

As for accommodation, there's also a huge range of options, including many comfortable mid-range hotels and apart-hotels.

Where to eat

Buenos Aires is a city of immigrants, and as well as the classic parrillas (steakhouses), pizzerias and bodegones (neighbourhood taverns), you'll find a range of different international cuisines, allowing one to travel around the world while sat around a table.

For breakfast or for afternoon tea, make sure your you stop at one of the city's bares notables. As well as serving delicious medialunas (croissants) and cortados (coffee with a dash of milk), these classic venues are steeped in culture and history. For lunch or dinner, meanwhile, you absolutely have to fit in an asado (barbecue), given that Argentina's beef is legendary. Another option is to catch a tango show with dinner included or to visit a milonga to see tango in its authentic setting. Buenos Aires never sleeps and the night offers something for everyone.

Activities in city

Buenos Aires offers a huge range of activities. Start out with the must-see attractions - many offer free access - and explore the most emblematic neighbourhoods.

Catching a football match in the city is a once-in-a-lifetime experience - even more so if you happen to be in the city for the superclásico Boca Juniors Vs River Plate rivalry match.

The city has more than 160 museums and cultural centres - think of any topic of interest and you're likely to find a museum or exhibition where you can learn more about it. There's also a vast range of theatres, offering the chance to have a cultured experience.

The city tourist board also offers a range of guided tours for less than the equivalent of US$ 10.

As for picking up souvenirs, with lots of local crafts markets in different neighbourhood parks and squares, it's easy to find something to take home from your trip, plus there are many shopping centres offering local and international brands.

Buenos Aires offers plenty of opportunities for a unique experience on a moderate budget.
