Leaving the museums behind, it's time to experience a different cultural space: one of the world's most stuninng bookstores. El Ateneo Grand Splendid (Av. Santa Fe 1860) is a huge branch of a local chain of bookshops, located in an old theatre/cinema. There is a coffee shop on what was previously the stage, and the theatre boxes have been turned into small reading rooms.
You can spend long hours here browsing and reading.
Just two blocks away, is the Galería Bond Street, a three-floor shopping arcade popular with young rockers. For more mainstream shopping carry on along Av. Santa Fe, where you'll find clothes shops, shoe shops and more.
Moving on:
Take bus number 106 at the junction of Rodríguez Peña and Av. Santa Fe. Within 30 minutes, you'll arrive at Aguirre 600, where you can continue shopping.
