11.00am | The Mataderos fair

The Feria de Mataderos is the place to find Argentine traditions alive and flourishing in Buenos Aires. Just 45 minutes from the centre, this Sunday fair has a large market with traditional Argentine craft products, as well as stall serving traditional food, a stage for folk singing and dancing performances and an area for gaucho horseriding displays. It takes place on Sundays from 11am until 8.00pm from March to December inclusive.

You can go for breakfast - try torta frita (fried cake) with hot chocolate - or for lunch (popular staples are (locro stew, tamales, and empanadas). A dulce de leche pancake is a must for dessert.
