Pasaje Roverano and Peluquería Romano

Gorgeous period shopping arcade housing Pope Francis's favourite barbershop.

This Art Nouveau passageway and shopping arcade was inaugurated in 1918 and beautifully preserves its stainglass and bronze fittings.

Named after the building's first owners, Ángel and Pascual Roverano, it links Avenida de Mayo with Hipólito Yrigoyen and is home to Pope Francis's favourite barbershop - Peluquería Romano.

The original Pasaje Roverano was built in 1878 but was partly demolished to make way for the Avenida de Mayo. This replacement was designed by architect Esteban Fermin Sanguinetti.
