Palacio de Justicia (Palace of Justice)

Site of the national judiciary and Supreme Court.

Present in tours

Facing Plaza Lavalle, this seven-story neoclassical building with Greek and Roman influences is the headquarters of the Judiciary and the Supreme Court of Argentina. Also known as the Palacio de Tribunales, it was designed by French architect Norbert Maillart and opened in 1942.

Its architecture maintains a rigorous symmetry and incorporates symbolism associated with justice and Roman power. In the entrance hall, there is a large bronze sculpture by Rogelio Yrurtia representing justice.

Guided tours are available in Spanish at 2.30pm on Fridays.
