Juan B. Ambrosetti Ethnographic Museum

Boasts a large collection showing the cultural diversity of pre-hispanic times and today.

Present in tours

The Ethnographic Museum, created in 1904 by the University of Buenos Aires' School of Humanities, is located in a 19th century building just two blocks from Plaza de Mayo.

Visitors can find archaeological, ethnographic and anthropological collections. Some of the highlights include archaeological finds, the majority from Patagonia and Northwestern precolumbian Argentina, and other Andean pottery and textiles.

The museum also has a specialised library and archive and hosts conferences, workshops, talks, shows, and guided tours.
