Café Ocho Esquinas

Historic cafe famous for its cured ham and German specialities.

This cafe opened in this Art Deco building at the junction of the avenues Forest, Alvarez Thomas and Elcano in 1939, on the triple frontier of the neighbourhoods of Chacarita, Colegiales and Villa Ortúzar.

Many tango musicians, including Aníbal Troilo, Homero Manzi and Osvaldo Pugliese often met here, and more recently the cafe has been popular with rock singers and the actor Diego Peretti.

The interior is warm and welcoming, decorated with photographs of tango stars, and the cafe is famous for its cured ham, German specialities, draft beer and its special "esquinazo" sandwiches.
