Parque Carlos Thays

Named in honour of the Frenchman who landscaped the city's parks.

This 4500m2 park is named in honour of the French landscaper responsible for many of the city's parks. It opened in 1990 on the site of the former Italpark amusement park.

Inside the park, are many significant works of sculpture, including Marta Minujín's United Nations statue; Colombian artist Fernando Botero's "male torso"; Italian sculptor Alejo Afani's "Pro Cultura Nacional", and Néstor Basterretxea's "El Árbol" (the tree), donated by the city's Basque community.

Also inside the park, at the corner of Avenida Del Libertador and Avenida Callao, is an old water tower housing the city's Museum of Architecture and Design.
