Liniers' house

Santiago Liniers, the second-to-last Spanish Viceroy of the Río de la Plata lived in this house between 1806 and 1809.

Only the facade and a few walls remain from the original construction. British general William Beresford agreed the terms of surrender here after the failed British invasion of Buenos Aires in 1806, and in 1874, in a now independent Argentina, the publishing house founded by Ángel Estrada was based here.

The building is currently the home of the city government's history institute and department of heritage.
