This house with its neo-Italian facade was the home of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento and his family between 1875 and 1888, after his presidency. Here he received many famous guests.
Sarmiento (1811-1888) was an important Argentine statesman, writer and educator. He was president of Argentina from 1868 until 1874, during which time he founded the country's naval and army schools and is often credited with providing an important impulse to the country's progress.
