Carlos Gardel Monument

The sculpture is located in the famous singer's home neighbourhood.

This homage to the "Zorzal Criollo", or Creole thrush, as Gardel is known in Argentina, is the work of sculptor Mariano Pagés. Inaugurated in the year 2000, the scultpture is located beside the Abasto shopping centre in the Balvanera neighbourhood. It is based on a photograph of Gardel from around the year 1930.

The city tourist board offers a free walking tour, Balvanera: Tango and the Abasto Market on Saturdays.
