NEWS: Buenos Aires at key British trade fairs
Buenos Aires presents its luxury and MICE offering to the UK market.

London, June 16

The Buenos Aires City Tourist Board's promotion department took part in several events in the United Kingdom the second week of June.

Constanza Ibarra, head of the MICE sector, and Fernando Amer, head of international markets, attended Experience Latin America, the only trade fair for the British market dedicated entirely to promoting tourism to Latin America.

The event was a great opportunity for representatives from the city tourist board to meet with British operators, travel agents, and journalists, and a training session was provided for the sales team from Trailfinders, a UK specialist in made-to-measure travel.

The city tourist board was also present at The Meetings Show, the ideal place to meet with 3,000 European professionals in the incentives sector. This growing event attracted a large number of hosted buyers, and Buenos Aires staged a presentation at Gaucho Piccadilly, an Argentine restaurant in London, attended by 40 of the region's most influential incentive house representatives.

Buenos Aires received 54,000 tourists from the UK in 2006, an increase of 1.6 per cent on the previous year. There are seven direct flights per week from London, and the average spend per tourist from the UK is US $536, according to the Buenos Aires City Tourist Board's department of Market Intelligence and Observatory.
