Get married in BA!
Argentina was the first Latin American country to legalize same-sex marriage. Info on tying the knot in BA.

In July 2010 Argentina became the first country in Latin America and one of the few worldwide to legalize same-sex marriage. The country has also gone several steps further, passing a groundbreaking gender identity law in 2012, which enables people to change their names and sexes on official documents without first getting approval from a judge or doctor, and receive sex-change surgery or hormone therapy as part of their public or private health care plans.

It is relatively simple to get married here as a foreigner; the process is the same for same-sex couples as it is for heterosexual couples.

First of all, if you’re planning on getting married in Buenos Aires, congratulations!

Secondly, please ensure you have the right documentation with you when you make your first appointment at the Registro Civil in the city centre (calle Uruguay 753) to begin the process. You will need two witnesses who are residents of Buenos Aires city, and if you do not speak Spanish, you will need to hire a licensed interpreter. It is also obligatory to go for a blood test before getting married in Argentina - this is to screen against STDs.

For more information on what steps you should take, how to request an appointment at the Registro Civil and what documentation is required, please visit this city government webpage.
