Founded by artist Luis Felipe Noé en 1969 as a protest, or "cultural provocation", on behalf of the New Figuration artistic movement, which also included Ernesto Deira, Rómulo Macció and Jorge de la Vega, this bar became the symbol of a generation. The windows were painted by Jorge de la Vega, while the the wood-panelling, wooden bar and parquet floor made this the first real "pub" in the city.
To this day, it remains a popular meeting place for artists and intellectuals.
