Bar Palacio in Chacarita is a big draw for photography fans - the cafe houses the Museo Fotográfico Simik, which has more than 4,000 photographs and daguerreotypes from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Alejandro Simik founded the museum in 2001, rapidly transforming the venue into a meeting place for collectors and camera enthusiasts. The idea of installing the museum inside a cafe was conceived with the objective of allowing everyone to access the world of photography (it is not obligatory to buy something at the cafe in order to visit)
The cafe also holds photography classes, changing exhibitions and talks. It also offers computers with free access. Jazz bands often play in the basement on Tuesday nights.
