Fileteado is Buenos Aires' traditional folk art form, with decorative patterns and floral flourishes that you can see in signs, lettering and images throughout the city.
We'll start out with a coffee at Bar La Perla (Av. Don Pedro de Mendoza 1899), on the corner of the colourful Caminito street. This old bar is a good place to get inside the neighbourhood of La Boca. The lettering, images of the tango musicians Carlos Gardel and Aníbal Troiloand the model of the obelisk in the entrance, are all the work of the fileteador Sergio Menasché.
