Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival

November 2020
Various venues

Everything from classic bebop, to jazz fusion, swing and nuevo tango is celebrated at the annual Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival, now in its 12th year. Enjoy multiple concerts at 23 sites around the city, including open-air venues, in the biggest edition of the event to date, consolidating its position as one of the highlights of the city's cultural agenda and of the international jazz scene.

Since 2008, the Festival's played host to some of the best international talent as well as welcoming home local artists who live abroad and giving an opportunity to new talent to be discovered. Various venues host a wide range of live concerts, one-off collaborations, acoustic jams and talks, with many events are free of charge.

Organisers maintain a tradition of bringing in international artists who have never played in Buenos Aires before while also providing a space for both established and up-and-coming local groups. This year features a strong presence from female musicians with Canadian saxophonist and flautist Jane Bunnett and her group of Cuban musicians Maqueque opening the event. In total 500 local and international artists perform over five days with a varied programme that also includes swing dance classes in parks, open-air improvisation and activities for children, providing the chance for all to enjoy a vital and constantly evolving genre.
